By the grace of God and the labor of many men and women, the parish was able to build its present edifice - a temple, a fellowship hall and classrooms for religious education, all now located in a beautiful tree-lined and spiritual setting. In July 31, 1983, a sacred procession formed at the Warsaw Street location to carry the religious items to the new Church site on Crescent Avenue. According to the rules and traditions of the Eastern Orthodox Church, these items were entrusted to the parishioners who participated in the procession. The first Divine Liturgy was officiated at the new fellowship hall. The cornerstone was laid on September 12, 1983, and construction was completed later in the fall. Divine Liturgy was celebrated for the first time in the new temple of God on October 30, 1983. Consecration of the new temple was officiated by His Grace Archbishop KYRILL on June 17, 1984 then Bishop Kyrill. St. Nicholas Church was led throughout its developmental decisions and activities by its first and only Rector, Archpriest Father George Nedelkoff, until his retirement in 1992 after 37 years of pastorship. Father George and Popadia Marilyn now reside in Sydney, Ohio. The Parish Board of Trustees, elected annually, assists the parish Priest on secular matters. In 1983 the members of the Board and the Special Building and Finance Committees exerted much effort and labor in particular to give us this church and hall on Crescent Avenue. We thank God for all things and pray for His grace and future guidance.
