Adult Choir The choir exists to join in and lead the gathered family of God in the work of the liturgical life of the Church. In this sacred task, we proclaim the fullness of Christian truth as it has been preserved in Apostolic tradition and lived out today in the faith and practice of the Orthodox Christian Church. We aspire to St. Theophan's vision of church music: "The purpose of church hymns is precisely to make the spark of grace that is hidden within us burn brighter and with greater warmth. This spark is given by the sacraments. Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs are introduced to fan the spark and transform it into a flame." Choir practice is on the First and Third Wednesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Sheila Underwood, Choir Director Altar Servers Coordinator: Subdeacon Dan Reid; assisted by Subdeacon Scott Underwood and "Trainee" Marc Schmidt

We hope our website is proving helpful to you, and we look forward to meeting you. Now, if you will forgive my "long-windedness," I will try to describe our "inquirer-catechesis" process as briefly yet thoroughly as I can. We run our inquirers classes typically during the fall, winter and spring months, coinciding with our Sunday school cycle. At the beginning of our Lenten season those who have gone through the inquirer classes, who have demonstrated commitment to the Life in Christ, and who subsequently decide to become Orthodox are prayed over in the midst of the congregation during Divine Liturgy and thus formally received as "catechumens". Classes continue for catechumens, but now throughout the Lenten Season special prayers for their spiritual protection and growth in Christ are offered, and eventually they are called upon to answer formal "scrutinies" and make their commitment to the faith known before the congregation. In this way those who wish to join us are prepared to be received as full members of the Body of Christ through Baptism and/or Chrismation at Holy Pascha, sharing in Christ's death and resurrection in a most intimate way. It must be stated that we usually ask new inquirers to worship with us for a minimum of one full year before we accept them into membership (time spent consistently attending a sister Orthodox parish prior to attending ours is taken into account). This is so that inquirers have a chance to at least begin experiencing, and growing in the experience of our Life together in Christ through the whole Liturgical cycle of the Church Year. For we hold to what the Apostles of our Lord Jesus have handed down to us: that true faith is the experience of the living God in Christ by the Holy Spirit. Thus faith is far more substantial than just a cerebral exorcise of memorizing and "assenting" to certain dogmas out of text books (even if the text book be the Holy Scriptures themselves, which indeed are given us to be read in order to be lived). During the time as an inquirer and as a catechumen there are some of our ministries you may get involved in, while others we would ask you to wait until full membership before trying to become involved in. We can tell you more about this once you have settled in, if you decide you want to worship with us and go through this process. If you need any assistance or further information please don't hesitate to contact us. Fr. David Meinzen Mali Makedonci Our Macedonian dance group will soon begin rehearsals of a new program. We would like to welcome youth in grades 4 through High School to join our troupe. We learn new dances and rehearse for upcoming performances on most Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Our performances include the Macedonian Ball and several International and Arts Festivals. If you (or your child or grandchild) are interested and willing to make a commitment to this, please contact Jim Skimos 484-8088 or jskimos@comcast.net.
